Once brewed in Annoeullin by the SBA company as ‘Le Rince Cochon’, this beer is now brewed by the Haacht brewery in Belgium, which also brews Primus and Tongerlo.
The character of this strong lager is hidden behind a pale yellow colour usually evoking the low-level pilsners. Yet with its 8.5 degrees, it is far above the Pils and other lager seers! This colour is topped with a head of white foam with a medium thickness and holding well in the glass.
It features light, malty aromas and light sweet and sour lemon notes. The alcohol is also noticeable and leaves no doubt as to the character of this beer. On the palate, the flavours are sweet and round with malty and slightly fruity hints.
Overall, it is quite sweet and only the perception of alcohol contrasts with the sweetness of the beverage. It is a very low-hop beer, which will delight lovers of round but powerful beers. Indeed, the sweet flavours of malts balance the presence of alcohol offering a harmonious and very pleasant beer.
Rince Cochon is a lager beer from Flanders which cleverly combines a tasty recipe and a quirky marketing. This beer, to be enjoyed responsibly (8.5 degrees) gives off all its flavours at a temperature of 6°C. to be enjoyed with a plate of cold meats or as an aperitif!
