Marcus designs was created by David Morton, who lived in Leicestershire and created plates mainly of medieval design from the late 1960s to the late 1970s. The old colours and finishes are applied by hand, the result of a specially developed process. The material of the reliefs is very similar to porcelain.
In this particular case, the work is based on the Tales of Canterbury ("Canterbury Tales") and represents 14th-century medieval images perfectly and with all the luxury of detail.
