Achille Castiglioni - Alessi - Uhr - AL6003 "Record"

AL6003 ‘Record’ wristwatch with batteries included, designed by Achille Castiglioni for Alessi. This brand new and never worn watch, in its original box. It still has its crystal protective plastic. Achille Castiglioni wanted to design an easy-to-read, yet fun timepiece. The case, made of 18/10 stainless steel, can be completely removed from the black leather strap. The dial's work of art was designed by his friend, Swiss graphic designer Max Huber. Watch diameter: 36 mm, the biggest of the two produced. Since Alessi has discontinued all these watches, in addition to being beautifully designed and precisely manufactured, they are considered collectables and practical timepieces. Achille Castiglioni was born in Milan in 1918 and died in 2002. He began working as an architect and designer alongside his brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo in 1938. He is considered one of the great masters of Italian design and was a founding member of ADI in the 1950s. The long list of awards he received includes eight ‘Compasso d' Oro’ awards. His work as a designer shows an unmistakable mixture of simplicity, irony and fun. Founded in 1921 as a ‘Workshop for the manufacture of cast brass and nickel silver sheets’, Alessi has always been recognised for the high quality of its products. In almost a century of history it has evolved to become an avant-garde exponent of the ‘Italian Design Factories’ capable of applying the knowledge and excellence achieved in design management to other types of product with notable differences between them. Open to change and international development, the company is at the same time deeply rooted in the tradition and cultural background of its territory. Alessi is still synonymous with handicraft objects made with the help of machines.
