Michael Graves - Alessi - Kessel - 9093 Miniature

This collection of miniatures, consisting of Alessi's best sellers, has been produced in 1:3 scale, preserving as far as possible the appearance and materials used in the original designs and all their components. All objects symbolically retain a degree of functionality. The collection was created with special consideration for collectors of Alessi products, to give them the opportunity to complete their private collections of authentic objects and at considerable savings in terms of space and expense. Dimensions: diameter 7.3 cm, Height 7.8 cm, scale 1:3 Delivered in its original box and booklet manual, collector's item. Featured in countless magazine articles and film sets, the little teapot has continued to enchant audiences since it was first launched in 1985 and can be found in the permanent collections of museums and international institutions around the world, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Australia and the MuDe: Museum of Design and Fashion in Lisbon. Graves' highly personal formal language fuses inspiration from the European tradition, Art Deco, American pop art, and memories of pre-Columbian cultures. Like only a few authors in the Alessi catalogue, the American architect has shown that he can also fascinate the general public. As described in the Harvard Business Review, unlike a teapot that simply indicates that the water is boiling, Michael Graves' whistling bird teapot is designed to bring joy to its users. And while the wide base of the kettle makes the water boil faster, Graves' design "showed its greatest originality in broadening people's expectations of what a kettle was and did and, indeed, the nature of the breakfast experience." MICHAEL GRAVES was born in Indianapolis, July 9, 1934 and died in Princeton, March 12, 2015, was an American architect. He studied architecture at the University of Cincinnati and Harvard University. Graves worked for two years as an assistant at the American Academy in Rome and then set up his architectural practice in Princeton, New Jersey. There he became a professor at Princeton University in 1972. As an architect, Graves is a leading representative of the post-modernist movement in the United States. His buildings retain the clarity of line characteristic of modern design, but incorporate classical elements, which give his work a less technical and cold, more human aspect. In 2001 he was awarded the gold medal of the American Institute of Architects. In addition to being an architect, Graves is a designer and has become widely known to the public through his designs for everyday household utensils (Alessi). ALESSI is the kitchenware brand that has created some of the most prominent objects in our daily lives. Established in 1921, Alessi has always stood out for the high quality of its products and its modern minimalism, which add a contemporary touch to any space. Alessi has remained at the cutting edge of design and innovation and continues to work with the most important modern designers, which is why it is currently considered ‘the’ Italian design factory.
