Original "Mezzadro" stool from the early 70s, in a rare putty colour, designed by the Castiglioni brothers, manufactured by Zanotta, Italy. Zanotta began producing the "Mezzadro" metal seat, designed by the Castiglioni brothers in 1957, in 1971. The "Mezzadro" was inspired by Marcel Duchamp's "ready-made" concept which the designers Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo used to transform a common object (a tractor seat) into a chair. There is some wear on the lacquered seat and wooden base which is consistent with the piece's age (see the photos). This stool is in good and original condition.
