Gérard Thomel, doctor in the sciences, former curator of the Natural History Museum in Nice, lectured paleontology at the University of Nice. As a recognised world specialist in ammonites, he choose to introduce the Ammonite family in this authoritative book published in 1980.
This huge family has an importance of the first order, both in terms of evolution (demonstrating the modalities, sometimes in the smallest details) and that of stratigraphy, as these fossils form the base of the zonal chronology of marine sedimentary lands of the Devonian through the Maestrichtian.
The study also makes it possible to answer questions while it offers an endless diversity of wonderful morphotypes. The topic is limited to Jura and Cretaceous ammonites, though the topic remains very wide-ranging and this work volunteers that it doesn’t add new fundamental information regarding the knowledge of these fossil cephalopods.
A very informative book for both amateur and professional.
It will be shipped adequately packaged.
