Max Aub (Jusep Torres Campalans)
Pack of cards.
A. Finisterre México, 1st edition. 1964
Complete. 106 cards
17 x 11 cm with drawings by Max Aub on the faces and texts on the back
Inside an illustrated case in which the Rules of the Game appear (... the one guessing who Máximo Ballesteros was, wins).
The drawings of the cards are attributed to Jusep Torres Campalans, a surrealist painter imagined by Max Aub who managed to pass him off as a real person in his masterpiece (supposed biography of the painter).
Max Aub is one of these writers with a very precise intuition in everything he touches. That is why one of his most avant-garde proposals was the Game of cards. It was published in Mexico by its editor, Alejandro Finisterre, and printed in Graficas Menhir S, A. from México DF. Although there is no record of it, it was published in January 1964, through the contract signed for the publication in January of this year and that the first literary reviews came out in November.
