The Pausa sofa designed by Pierluigi Cerri is built with a body and springs made of steel. The outer edge is in steel covered in leather with Frau branding. On the external sides the sofa is closed with wooden panels covered in leather with a ribbed finish. The cushions are padded with goose down and covered in black Frau leather. The lot on auction was purchased in the late 1990s and comes from an apartment in the Cannareggio district of Venice. The sofa is solid and sturdy with perfectly comfortable cushions. There are some signs of age present as shown in the photos. Pierluigi Cerri graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan where he was taught by Umberto Eco. In 1974 he was one of the founding members of Gregotti Associati, with whom he won numerous architecture competitions. A member of Alliance Graphique Internationale, in 1976 he managed the image of the Venice Biennale, and was responsible for the image of the Kunst - und Ausstellungshalle in Bonn and the Palazzo Grassi in Venice. He was editor of Casabella and Revisione magazines, he collaborated with the magazines Lotus International, Abitare, Domus, lEspresso, and he directed a series of graphic designs of the Page, Electa.
