Katana (刀) is the Japanese word for 'sword'. The Daito or katana (long sword), belonged to the standard weaponry of the feudal samoerai in Japan, together with the wakizashi (short sword), and the tanto (knife). In the western world the katana if best known as the samoerai sword. The sheath is finished with an ivory look and provided with iron decorations. On both the sheath as handle there are beautiful ivory look depictions applied. With all three the blade is of metal with knurled design.. The tsuba (separates the handle of the blade, also prevents that the sword glides through the hand and you glide down the blade with your hand) is beautifully decorated. The stand is finished with carving in the ivory look.
