1890's School Uniform - Stoff

This is a White School Uniform dating back to approximately 1890 and an exceptional survival from that period. Considering its age it is still in magnificent condition. I have entered as "Very good condition" even so both cuffs have "frayed" and this is not too surprising. May I give some useful advice on re structuring the cuffs. I would "satin stitch" both edges of the cuffs entirely to the first or second horizontal line of the fabric with a shiny yarn thereby conserving the dress as the dress itself is still in perfect condition. As you will note the top & back are magnificently pleated and so are the top of the shoulders. The sleeves are billowing and narrowing at the cuffs. The bottom of the school uniform has a double pleat. There are two pockets in the front. Both the top, back and the pockets are "framed" with crochet lace" The uniform is buttoned at the back by still the original mother of pearl buttons. The dimensions are: from top of shoulder to bottom of uniform 66cm. From under arm to under arm 40cm. I guess this is for a young girl between 6 and 10 years old. It is a Historic Survival piece. I have enclosed some photographic documentation of what the children wore at the end of the XIX Century and also the wonderful Historic Edition 1890 "la Famille en France" which deals with Childbirth in those days, Christening, School going, Trousseaux (Dowry) Engagement, Marriage and marriage Acts, Celebrations of Wedding Anniversaries, Traditions and finally the preparations of Funerals. PLEASE NOTE; There will probably be a partial Cash Refund, due to the lightness of the fabric.
