Offered for auction is a very nice ike jacket / document / photo grouping to Sgt JOHN KRUEL, who was born in 1912 and was from Clarksburg West Virgnia, he enlisted in 1942 and went on to serve in the European Theater of Operations during WW2 in an Anti Aircraft Artillery unit. His field correspondence indicates he was serving with the 482nd Anti-Aircraft Arty (Automatic Weapons) Battalion - this unit FOUGHT to defend Bastogne and St Vith in Belgium; it was the first air defense artillery unit at the capture of the Remagen bridge; and for this they received the presidential unit citation, as is present on the jacket. He served 1,5 year!! throughout Europe (France, Belgium, Germany). The grouping consists of; - His ike jacket in beautiful condition with AA patch, Sgt rank chevrons, an advanced european theatre of operations with rare OISE tab (indicating service in FRance), THREE overseas stripes (indicating he served 1,5 year in Europe), his Presidential Citation Bar (for participating on the landings in France), a nice medal bar consisting of a Good Conduct Medal, WW2 European Campaign medal bar with THREE campaign stars (indicating he served throughout three European major battle campaigns), the WW2 victory Medal and Germany occupation medal. His jacket is dated july 1944 and is a nice size (40R). - Extensive archive of original letters from him sent to family/wife and vice-versa - Various photo's of him in uniform - Patch and several other documents mentioning his name - A printed out research file, consisting with many copies of documents related to what has been researched on him. There is extensive research included as papers, but im sure much more can be found on him. Overall a fantastic original named WW2 US AAA / Ardennes / Bulge / France / ETO Uniform group with a great historic value, and an interesting project to further research.
