Biography of Pedro Mozos Martinez
Self-taught painter, young men attended official schools as a free student. In 1935 he obtained the Conde de Cartagena pension, with which he would travel through Italy, France and Morocco. He was also awarded a scholarship in 1958, this time by the Juan March Foundation in Barcelona, to further his studies in Paris and Rome. He had his first solo exhibition at the age of seventeen at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid (1933), under the patronage of the painter Zuloaga. years later, in 1942, he would exhibit again in the circle rooms. Throughout his career, Mozos held numerous individual exhibitions throughout Spain, in prominent venues in Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante, etc. Likewise, in 1954 he held an anthological exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Madrid. He also participated in important collectives in London, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Paris, and attended several editions of the National Fine Arts Exhibition between 1934 and 1957. He was awarded the third medal in 1943, the second in 1948 and 1952, and the first in 1954 and 1957. He also took part in the I Salón de los Once, held in Madrid in 1943, and in biennials such as the Venice Biennial, in 1950 and 1954, or the Hispano-American Art Biennial in Madrid in 1951, where he was awarded the Lepanto Prize. in 1975 he was awarded the gold medal of the circle of fine arts of madrid. He also dedicated himself to teaching art, being a professor at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts in Madrid since 1950, and Professor of Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University from 1964 until his death. Years after his death, tributes would be dedicated to him, such as the retrospective exhibition held at the Conde Duque Cultural Center in 1991, or the tribute at the Egyptian Institute of Islamic Studies and the Concha Márquez Foundation in Madrid in 2000. Pedro Mozos is currently represented in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the San Fernando Academy, the Fine Arts Museums of Bilbao, Málaga, Álava and Pontevedra, the Madrid Bar Association, the Paradores de Turismo de España artistic fund and the Valencia Provincial Council
