A fantastic flower chariot folding screen painted by Japanese lacquer on silk. You can put it at home to feel 4 seasons in one folding screen.
This work is colored with various pigments such as verdigris, ultramarine, and chalk on silk coated with gold leaf. Traditionally, Japanese paintings are colored by adhering pigments to the silk base using an aqueous solution of glue, which is a protein extracted from cow or rabbit skin.
Gorgeously decorated flower cart (also called a cherry blossom viewing cart) is decorated with seasonal flowers such as wisteria, peonies, daisies, hydrangeas, and chrysanthemums. Flower chariots were a popular motif among feudal lords in the early Edo period, and were primarily drawn by artists of the Kano school.
