La Trappe - Eiche im Alter von Charge 9 und 19 - 37,5 cl - 2 flaschen

2 old bottles of La Trappe Oak Aged. Stored in a cellar since purchase. Will be packaged professionally to protect the bottles during shipping. Batch 9 is the first to use Malbec wine barrels from Cahors. This wine stands out for its very high tannin content from the Auxerrois grape which is the darkest and most tannic wine grape. Because this wine grape is very sensitive, it is no longer cultivated but has its own character. By maturing our quadruple on these wine barrels, many flavor associations from this wine are reflected in the aged beer. Because the aged beer from these barrels is already so rich in taste, we have reduced the percentage of new oak for this batch to 14%. As a result, the wood taste and aromas from wood are slightly less, but the beautiful wine bouquet of the Malbec wine comes through all the better. This batch was blended in December 2011. Batch 19 This Oak Aged Batch 19 is aged in barrels of Banyuls, a fortified French dessert wine from Roussillon, also called a Vin Doux Naturel. The smell and taste of banyuls are reminiscent of that of plum compote and cocoa. In addition to floral honey and smoked oak, this smell and taste can also be clearly seen in this batch. The taste of La Trappe Quadrupel remains in the foreground. The mouthfeel of alcohol remains and complements the complex and sweet taste. The bitterness is maintained by the presence of wood tannins. The carbonic acid gives a slight tingling on the tongue and the smoky flavor lingers in the throat. This batch was blended in February 2015.
