PULPAS STUDIO - Couchtisch - QMECOMALTIGRE - PMMA

“We only asked for leopards to guard our thinning dreams.” Ch. Bukowsky QMCOMALTIGRE is an ode to freedom of interpretation, that is, to the beauty of ideas confrontation. Historically, leopards have played a prominent role in iconography around the world, from the "Seated Woman of Çatalhöyük" from 6,000 BC. as a symbol of security, or the wisdom of the Egyptian goddess Seshat, or the fear of the powerful goddess Xi Wangmu, known as the Queen Mother of the West in Chinese mythology. During the 18th and 19th centuries, leopard clothing meant wealth and status in Europe. While in the 20th century, after the mass production of the animal print, its meaning changed intermittently from exotic, punk and finally iconic. "In all its forms (sophisticated, luxurious, rebellious, sexy) leopard print makes a statement. It can't be ignored, whether you like it or hate it." J. Weldon Following the idea of animal camouflage, the piece has a variable materiality between transparent and translucent depending on the different textures, a completely transparent part, another translucent (hand-sanded) part and an opaquer hand-carved part. QMECOMALTIGRE is design, craftsmanship, or art but above all, it is an icon. /Recycled and recyclable 15 mm PMMA, carved and thermo-deformed by hand using solar energy. /Packed in sturdy and well-packaged wooden box. /Please keep in mind that you may see very small stretch marks due to the handcraft bending for structural rigidity, and micro scratches from hand carving, this is not an industrial object. *Designed and crafted by Pulpas Studio, a multi-awarded design team from South Spain, aiming to create functional objects for a deep-aesthetic ecology.
