This is Kokeshi doll "Sosaku Kokeshi" by Kunio Miyakawa from Japan. The "Kokeshi," which originated as a traditional Japanese craft from children's toys, is handmade one by one. The history of Kokeshi dates back to the Edo period (1603-1868), where it was believed to represent wishes such as abundant harvests, good health, and children's growth in tangible forms. Creative kokeshi dolls “Sosaku Kokeshi” are characterized by diverse shapes and designs that are not bound by tradition.
