Wassily Kandinsky (after) - "Composition X, 1939" - 70x90cm - 1986

- Wasily Kandinsky (after). Authorized offset lithograph on heavyweight smooth satin paper (300 gsm approx.) - 1986. © Cosmopress/Genf - Size: 70 x 90cm. - Signed in the plate. - Stamp on verso. - Condition: excellent. Never framed, never exposed. - Wassily Kandinsky (December 4, 1866 - December 13, 1944) was an artist who is recognized as one of the pioneers of abstract art. He was one of the founders of the influential Munich group Der Blaue Reiter (“The Blue Rider”) and began completely abstract painting. His forms evolved from fluid and organic to geometric and, finally, to pictographic. Kandinsky’s approach to color was influenced by his background as a trained musician, treating color with a musician’s sensibility. He believed that each color had a mysterious life of its own. An obsession with Monet led him to explore his own creative concepts of color on canvas. Kandinsky’s works have been sold at various prices. Some of his most expensive paintings include “Painting with White Lines” which was sold for $41.60 million, “Murnau - Landscape with Green House” for $26.40 million, and “Improvisation on Mahogany” for $24.00 million. The price of a signed painting by Kandinsky can range from 100,000 to 30,000,000€, and the estimated auction price for a drawing or watercolor by the artist is between 4,000 and 400,000€.
