Hanseatic Cross. Hamburg The Hanseatic Cross was established in accordance with the general agreement of the senates of the three cities. Each Senate ratified its award on different dates: Lübeck on 21 August , Hamburg on 10 September and Bremen on 14 September 1915 The Hanseatic Cross ( German Hanseatenkreuz ) is a military award, the cross of the German Empire , which existed in the three Hanseatic cities of Bremen , Hamburg and Lübeck , which were city-states of the empire during the First World War . Each of the cities created its own version of the cross, but the appearance and reasons for the award were the same for all. The Hanseatic cross had only one class. Worn on a ribbon on the left side of the chest. It was a silver cross covered with red enamel. In the center was the coat of arms of the respective city-state.
