World Champion Formula One: 1976 James Hunt was an iconic British Formula One racing driver who won the Formula One World Championship in 1976, he was known for his great but dangerous racing, his rivalry with Nikki Lauda and his playboy lifestyle. James hunt began his F1 racing career in 1973 with the Hesketh Racing team and soon became known for his reckless and action-packed exploits on track, this earned him the nickname "Hunt the Shunt". He went on to win for Hesketh, driving their own Hesketh 308 car, before joining the McLaren team at the end of 1975. In his first year with McLaren, Hunt won the 1976 World Drivers' Championship, and he remained with the team for a further two years, although with less success, before moving to the Wolf team in early 1979. Following a string of races in which he failed to finish, Hunt retired from driving halfway through the 1979 season. Hunt died from a heart attack aged 45. He was inducted into the Motor Sport Hall of Fame on 29 January 2014.
This is a great recreation of the 1976 James Hunt helmet, this helmet is in new to mint original condition, it's a original vintage 1975 helmet with Snell code 1970 (this is approved for professional racing sports such as F1). This Iconic helmet is fantastic and very much like the helmet that James wore in the 1976 season, real James Hunt helmets are priceless, and this will be very close to a real one, this will absolutely make the perfect display piece in any collection. As you can see, the helmet is in good condition the inside and out, perfect for displaying, remember this helmet is 45 years old but still looks very nice.
