SIGNED Out of print, nice book full of color images of Fontana's surreal and unique "landscapes" with text in english and italian Franco Fontana is an eclectic photographer who has successfully experimented with various photographic genres. But his research has mainly focused on the use of colour and geometry. The choice of subjects, be they rural, industrial or urban landscapes, is always secondary to the two protagonists of Fontana's photographs: colour and geometry. his landscape photographs do not simply represent reality, but create an abstraction of it through strong, almost exaggerated colours and sharp, marked lines. Franco Fontana began his photographic career in 1961, distinguishing himself for his aesthetic research, in particular for the abstract expression of colour at a time when photography was predominantly black and white. Fontana has exhibited in over 400 solo and group exhibitions worldwide and his photographs are conserved in prestigious international museums. Among the numerous awards he has received, Fontana won the Photokina in Cologne in 1974 and the Tokyo Photographic Society of Japan - The 150 Years of Photography Photographer Award. Fontana has collaborated with world-famous magazines and newspapers such as Time-Life, Vogue USA, Vogue France, and has shot advertising campaigns for well-known brands such as Fiat, Volkswagen, Sony and Versace. His influence extends beyond photography, having given workshops and lectures at prestigious institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Institute of Technology in Tokyo.
