In May 1998, the company changed its name to VALLEGRE -Vinhos do Porto, S.A., resulting from the merging of the names of two of its most important Quintas - Valle Longo and Vista Alegre - but retaining its markedly family nature that spans five generations. Thus, VALLEGRE is a private, family-based, modern, entrepreneurial and dynamic company. Creativity, Innovation, Quality, Customer Satisfaction´s Principles, Well-being of employees and Respect for the Environment, are laid down in the Mission, Vision and Values of the Company. The production of DOC (Controlled/Protected Denomination of Origin) wines continues to be its primary aim: DO Porto, DO Douro and DO Moscatel Douro of the highest quality which are nationally and internationally renowned. Nowadays, the wines are sold and enjoyed in over twenty seven countries and the countless prizes and distinctions achieved in several international competitions prove the excellence of our quality. WINEMAKERS: Fátima Lopes, César Pinacho & Miguel Martins. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS Gold Medal, AWC Vienna WINE VARIETIES: Careful selection of white grapes from the Demarcated Douro Region, namely: Viosinho, Malvasia Fina, Gouveio, Arinto, Cercial and Rabigato. VINIFICATION Grapes, from a single year, are harvested manually into small transport boxes and vinified in accordance with the traditional method of Port Wine. After partial destemming, the grapes are slightly crushed into stainless steel tanks. The must fermentation takes place under controlled temperature and is interrupted by the addition of brandy. It is a wine with great aging potential. Wine from a single harvest, aged in oak casks for a minimum period of 7 years. The bottling year is indicated on the back label. TASTING NOTES Bright and excellent golden color. Very complex aroma, highlighting the notes of dried fruits, such as almonds, combined with aromas of orange, peach and notes of candied fruit. There are also fine notes of toast from the aging in old wooden barrels. Very elegant palate, good balance between its vibrant acidity and its natural sweetness. It also reveals a flavor that ranges from honey, candied fruit and very evident toasted nuts. Its freshness is felt throughout the tasting and it finishes velvety and persistent. SERVING Pleasant accompaniment with dried fruits: almonds, raisins, peaches and apricots. It also accompanies sweet desserts, with eggs or dried fruit tarts, coffee and vanilla. However, it is a wine that can perfectly be drunk alone, cooler or at the end of a meal. As Port Wine is a natural product, it is likely to create a deposit.
