The first milestone in the creation of Macallan AERA Royal Black was the selection of the highest quality American and European oak. The precious oak wood is transported from the forests of the USA and northern Spain to Jerez in southern Spain, where it is naturally dried for four years. Maturation in sherry casks forms the cornerstone of The Macallan single malts; their reputation is a testament to the exceptional quality of the barrels. The Macallan Area was originally intended for the Taiwanese market. Taster's note: Color: Natural color of the nectar. Nose: Balanced, vanilla, candied fruit, orange peel, citrus sweetness.
