【Important notes】

・International Buyers: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.
・Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. These duties are paid to your country's customs office and not to us. Prompt payment of these fees is necessary to ensure delivery of your item.
・We deeply value your understanding regarding the blade's export process. The duration to secure an export permit might extend up to 3-4 weeks, and shipping, based on the destination, could take an additional month. In some instances, sea freight may be chosen, which might lengthen the delivery period to 2-3 months.
・Considering the diligence required for export permit procedures, we'd like to emphasize the importance of commitment after purchase. If the auction is annulled post-confirmation, there's a need to retract the said permit. In such situations, to cover administrative efforts, a fee equating to 10% of the auction's final amount would be requested via PayPal.
・We kindly request bids from those who fully acknowledge these conditions. Please be informed that the original registration document is required to be returned to official authorities, so a copy will be provided with the sword.

【Product details】

Experience the rich history of Japanese sword-making with this meticulously crafted wakizashi by Bicyu-no-kuni Mizuta-jyu Kunishige, a key figure in the Mizuta school of swordsmiths. Originating from the late Muromachi period and thriving well into the mid-Edo period, the Mizuta school is believed to have begun either as the descendants of the old Aoe Kunimitsu lineage or with Kunishige, who migrated from Bingo Province.

This wakizashi is accompanied by a copy of the original Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate, as the original is returned to the authorities. The certificate, issued by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government with registration no. 325552 on November 8th, 2021 (Reiwa 4), details the sword's specifications: measuring 54.3 cm in length and 1.1 cm in curvature, with one peg hole. Intriguingly, the inscription "Futatsudou sai-dan" (cut through two bodies) on this wakizashi indicates its historical use in "tameshigiri", the practice of testing a sword's sharpness and quality. During the Edo period, this often involved cutting through the bodies of multiple executed criminals, thus marking the blade with a unique testament to its cutting ability.

While there are signs of wear, including a missing hilt and traces of rust removal, these elements contribute to the wakizashi's historical narrative. For a comprehensive understanding of its condition, please review the provided photographs. Note that the stand shown is for display purposes only and is not included with the sale.

Length of the blade: 70.3 cm

・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid.
・We make every effort to accurately represent the product's colors and textures in our photos. However, due to differences in monitors and device displays, as well as photographic conditions, slight color variations between the photos and the actual product may occur. We ask for your understanding in advance.

Thank you for your interest, and happy bidding!
