Safety-Zone 1961-1991 Takao Niikura Bijutsu Shuppansha/1991/Japanese/190*265*25 Safety-Zone 1961-1991A collection of works by Takao Niikura, one of Japan's leading postwar photographers, was recognized by Shoji Yamagishi, the effective editor-in-chief of the magazine Camera Mainichi in the mid to late 60s when it was at its peak, and his works were often introduced, but Yamagishi later commented, "Your photographs are Although Yamagishi had commented, "Your photographs are so everyday that they jump the page between documentary and nude," he later came to be highly regarded for his abilities as a leading figure in "compola photography," which was influenced by the American trend and became popular in Japan around 1970. Niikura has continued to take ordinary snapshots in ordinary places, but the selection of subjects, exquisite timing and distance, and the unique framing and composition of his images are indeed outstanding. This collection of snaps seems to summarize Niikura's 30-year career from the 1960s to the 1990s.
