Brocot & Delettrez of Paris, a 19th-century French gilt bronze mantel clock modelled as a classical beauty reclining against a globe and holding a scroll with astronomical motifs, The movement is an eight-day movement stamped for the maker and numbered 8664, on an original giltwood plinth, 50cm wide, 34cm high Antoine Jean-Baptiste Delettrez and Achille Brocot, son of the respected clockmaker Louis-Gabriel Brocot, established Paris in October 1851, with premises at 62 Rue Charlot. Delettrez worked alongside Achille Brocot for several years and built a reputation for high-quality clock movements.
