Warsaw Insurgent Cross With Miniature In accordance with the regulations, the Warsaw Uprising Cross was awarded to military personnel and civilians who took a direct part in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising . This award could be awarded to both Polish citizens and foreign citizens who contributed to the uprising through their actions. The Warsaw Insurgent Cross could be presented to the relatives of a deceased participant in the uprising as a memory. The Warsaw Insurgent Cross has the appearance of an equilateral rectangular Greek cross , the shoulders of which on the front side are lined with longitudinal grooves into six equal parts. It was made from silver-plated oxidized nickel silver . On the front side of the cross in its central part there is a composition consisting of an armband of participants in the uprising and an anchor - a symbol of the Polish rebels. The armband is covered with white (top half) and red (bottom half) enamel. The anchor image is smooth and polished. The date of the beginning of the uprising is marked on the horizontal arms of the cross: on the left shoulder – I.VIII; on the right shoulder - 1944. The anchor is a combination consisting of two stylized Latin letters "P" and "W" ( Polska Walcząca ) placed one above the other. On the reverse side of the cross, on its horizontal shoulders, there is an inscription: “POWSTAŃCOM WARSZAWY” . The inscription passes through an oval-shaped wreath located in the central part of the cross , formed from intertwined laurel branches . The reverse side of the cross is granulated, bordered along the perimeter by a smooth polished edge. All inscriptions and images on the cross are convex and polished.
