During World War II, a large number of Orders of the Alaouite Throne of various degrees were awarded to US Army personnel who participated in Operation Torch while serving as part of the Allied forces.
Given that Morocco was a French protectorate from 1912 to 1956 , many Frenchmen were nominated for the Order of the Alaouite Throne.
With Morocco's independence in 1956, the Order of the Alaouite Throne was transferred to the possession of the King of Morocco and was retained in the state's award system.
