ΕΝΑ ΜΕΓΑΛΟ ΕΠΙΤΡΑΠΕΖΙΟ ΣΕΛΙΝΟ NAPOLEON 111 ΜΕ 3 ΠΕΤΡΕΛΙΕΣ. - Ύφασμα (4) - 2.45 m - 2 m

This is a magnificent Napoleon 111 table linen dating to approx. 1870.
The linen has been very little used and is in fine condition.
For the late 19th Century the table linen has very generous dimensions as table in those days were rather small.
Also the width is large and very rare at 2 meters and thus ideal for a wide table.
The border particularly is superb with gathered and pleated ribbons on which bouquets of flowers are deposited which creates a beautiful effect. The border is almost 17cm deep.
The top has a rectangular red batten with the same design as the borders, but on a smaller scale.
At both opposite corners of the top are 2 initials M.C. which are embroidered in high relief and very visible in daylight. It appears that both initials are embroidered to the table linen with "red thread" and it gives the table linen beautiful finish. There were no napkins with this table linen, but found 3 napkins with similar high relief embroidery . They measure 70cm x 77cm with initials M.V.
These pieces are becoming very sought after, but also rare to obtain.
A perfect ensemble.
