Payments & Fees
What happens if a buyer doesn't pay?

Buyers are required to pay for their order within 3 days of the auction closing, or immediately if using buy now. If the buyer fails to pay within the 3 day period, we’ll contact them with multiple payment reminders via email. If their payment still isn’t received, the sale will be cancelled and, in most cases, the buyer will be blocked from bidding and buying on Catawiki.

To ensure you still have a chance to sell your object, we’ll automatically resubmit the object for auction if the buyer doesn’t follow through with payment. From experience, we know that almost 70% of resubmitted objects are successfully sold in the next auction. Resubmitting means your unpaid objects will automatically be approved for auction. The expert will then schedule these objects into the first available auction.

You can always choose not to resubmit a particular object if you prefer. If the buyer doesn’t pay, we’ll inform you about your resubmission options and provide guidance on how to proceed via email. If you don’t wish to resubmit any unpaid objects, please click on the following link to change your preferences.
