Shipping & Delivery
Understanding shipping rates

Why shipping rates can vary
Shipping costs can differ depending on several factors, such as:

  • the shipping company chosen by the seller

  • the destination country and distance between buyer and seller

  • the insurance coverage included in the package

  • the type of packaging needed to protect the object during transit

All sellers must calculate their shipping costs as accurately as possible when listing an object.

What shipping costs include
The total shipping cost you pay through Catawiki covers more than just the courier’s fee. It usually includes:

  • shipping company fees

  • insurance for your package

  • packing and handling materials (such as boxes, tape, or bubble wrap)

For very fragile or high-value objects, the seller may need to custom-make packaging to ensure safe delivery.

Why are shipping rates sometimes higher than expected?
If you believe the shipping cost is too high, you can check estimated rates by contacting a local transport company. You can also ask the seller for clarification if you’re unsure what the cost includes (for example, insurance or packaging materials).

If, after delivery, you find that you’ve overpaid for shipping, you can contact the seller via your Order page. The seller must refund you directly for any overpaid amount.

Can I pay for shipping separately or negotiate?
All shipping costs must be paid through Catawiki when you pay for your order. You can’t pay for shipping separately or directly to the seller.

Negotiating or paying for shipping outside Catawiki is not allowed and may breach our Terms of Use.
