History of ANRI wood carvings.
It all started in the end of the 19 century when Aloir Riffeser travelled to the European capitals to sell woodcarvings he bought from the farmers in the Göden Valley in the Alps.
In 1912, Josef Anton Riffeser started the ANRI company. The name derived from the first two letters of his first and last name. After World War I, when Riffeser was a prisoner in a war camp in Siberia, he devised the plan to start a wood carving business. He designed his own models, which he successfully sold, mainly in the Alpine region.
