A very nice original vintage 50s years Japanese black lacquer and hand painted musical jewellery box with lighting. The box has a nice scene painted on the top of an Oriental garden and possibly a snow covered Mount Fuji in the background. It is lined with beautiful vibrant red velvet. It has two compartments. The top compartment has a small silk thread to pull to open it. The base offers space for more jewellery and rings. The lower and middle compartment houses the musical mechanism that is in operation, in the shape of a man pulling a car... As the music is playing, the wheel of the wagon is also spinning. The winder for the music box is on the back and presumably not the original one. You have to wind it up with a screwdriver. The right compartment also houses the batteries for the lighting, only I can't get it to turn on. Has to be checked. The lid has a mirror on the inside. Comes with 2 keys.
