The Marantz CD-17 (introduction 1995) is one of the longest running series productions in the digital world sensitive to aging. This solid long term model politics is compared to that of VW by the German editors of STEREO. The Mk3 edition of the tried and tested CD-17 was released onto the market in 2003. The last photos are scans of a test in STEREO 10/2003. Marantz is called the evergreen of the player scene, and the German testers praise the solid build quality. The high-quality remote control with a nice grip also gets a few kind words. In the K.I. version, Marantz adds a bit more with the copper housing and shielded toroidal transformer among other things. The switchable digital filter (see last photo) enables the listener to choose between 2 values in terms of sound display. Your own taste and the chosen source material will determine which filter you like best. The device is in excellent condition, the only downside is a few specks to the right of the display. They can perhaps be polished off, but I have not done that. I have tried to photograph the display, i.e. its condition, with a series of photos (starting from no. 12) on which a red car from sharp to out of focus is reflected in the display. At this company (in Zuidlaren) a complete test is done by electro-technicians. The devices are always cleaned, repaired and re-adjusted where needed. The Marantz will be packed very carefully, boxed twice, in its original packaging with an extra box around it of high quality with a high load capacity.
