Large antique witch ball of 20 cm diameter - silvered - probably from England. The witch ball has an old history to repel witches or evil spirits. They were used at the English coast when the fishermen were at sea to protect the wife and children against possible danger. Also in the art of painting they are often used to display space completely by, for instance, Ensor. They have a very decorative value and iconic effect. They are lovely to use for the Christmas season, too. The ball is still in good condition for its age and has a nice aged patina. The suspension mechanism is still fine. Diameter 20 cm. The with ball is well packed and sent by registered mail.
