Beautiful and very rare knife "laguiole" in carved ivory This knife dates back to 1910/1930. See the certificate of expertise in the photos It was carved by the artist of Thiers, Nicolas Crocombette. This knife is in original condition, never restored, simply maintained in good condition. Oiled regularly to prevent the oxidation of carbon steel. the 9 cm long carbon steel blade is engraved "Joseph S", surname of the one for whom the knife was bought at the time. It is guilloched to the connection with the spring also guilloched The adjustment between the blade and the spring is almost perfect. The spring is not of constant thickness, it is tapered towards the rear, it is therefore forged. The handle is made of ivory, it measures 11cm. One of the sides is slightly yellowed by time, this certifies that the knife is not a copy. The pattern of the handle is a classic pattern of Nicolas Crocombette. We can see a similar pattern in the book of the specialist of "Laguiole" knives, François Lemasson, "histoire du couteau de Laguiole" on page 147. (ed. des monts d’Auvergne 2012) Length open: 20 cm Length closed: 11 cm The certificate CITES is not necessary for an object made prior to 2 Mars 1947 if this object remains in the EEC (departmental editorial from 12/1/2017 A CITES certificate will be issued with the knife if it is sold outside the EEC.
