19th C. French Artillery Gladius or Glaive Model 1831 by Talabot - Paris. This is an Iconic French Artillery Gladius or Glaive model 1831 also kown as "Coupe Choux" (means cabbage chopper) by the French troops. The sword has an 48.5 cm blade (with some pitting due to it's age) There is a clear makers mark on the blade: Talabot Fs (Brothers) Paris and above that mark there is a letter N with 2 stars in an oval. The solid brass raised ribbed hilt is numbered at one side with 464 and at the other side with number 22 which is made obsolete, a unknown mark in an oval is underneath the hilt. Total length is approx. 34 cm. All our items will be shipped by Tracked and Signed For mail.
