First introduced in the 1980s, it was made with Cognac from the main 4 crus. It was aged for 18 to 20 years. What's special about this Cognac is that the eau-de-vie was aged on so-called 'fûts roux', i.e. very old casks. These casks contained few tannins as they were old, resulting in a less woody Cognac in spite of the long aging. - ES]
