Kienzle taximeter Argo T12 - classic taxi accessories

Old antique odometer (German taximeter) by Kienzle, original condition - has not been tinkered with - as far as I can tell, it works - a beautiful accessory for vintage taxis, Argo type 12, manufactured by Kienzle Apparate GmbH, Villingen. The “Kienzle Taxameter und Apparate AG” from Villingen was regarded as the market leader at the time, and their “Argo” taximeters were widely used. The first taximeter manufactured by Kienzle was the ARGO T 3 (1920-1925), then they built the square ARGO T 4 (1926-1935) and later the space-saving installable ARGO T 12 (1956-1967). Initially, the chunky taximeter was a combination of an odometer and a clock, and by today, it developed into a modern on-board computer with management functions. The last mechanical taximeters were banished from taxis in the mid-1980s, when new sliding-scale tariffs were introduced in many German cities. The step from mechanics to electronics was ultimately inevitable. Taximeter T12 Argo. It has many traces of wear and scratches. Dimensions: 15 cm wide, 12 cm deep and 10 cm high. Weight: 2 kg.
