Achille & Piergiacomo Castiglioni for Arteluce - Rare wall or ceiling light ‘Balum - A230’ or Flos Light Ball - Lot 2
I am selling a rare original wall or ceiling light from 1961 by Arteluce, model Balum-A230 that corresponds to the first Flos production of the model Lightball designed by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni - Lot 2.
As you can see in the photos, the aluminium base bears the brand Arteluce on the outside and the brand Flos on the inside, also imprinted on the aluminium.
This is the first version made at the time when Flos acquired Arteluce.
It can be used as a sconce or a ceiling light and was produced in various sizes. The item in this auction is medium size. In my auctions, you can find another one that is the same and also a large, 42 cm version.
Composed of a reflecting body in enamelled metal and a spherical glass diffuser which is screwed directly onto the reflector.
Well preserved aesthetically, it has some minor spots where the varnish has been retouched, hardly visible once installed.
Glass in perfect condition.
Original wiring in perfect working order.
Dimensions: 32 × 32 × 23 cm
