A beautiful old Köhler sewing machine with a wooden dust cover, 1920s
On 1 July 1871, Hermann Köhler, Leopold Oskar Dietrich and Gustav Winselmann established a workshop in Altenburg for the manufacturing of sewing machines with the name Dietrich & Co. On 6th January 1872, the first sewing machine was built with the name Allemannia and by the end of that year 300 sewing machines were already manufactured. Leopold Oskar Dietrich left the company two years after its foundation. The company was renamed Köhler & Winselmann and moved to a larger building in 1877. In 1891 Winselmann also left. Hermann Köhler went on alone under the name Köhler.

Dust cover at the back is slightly damaged and stands loosely on the machine.
The machine is still functional and in good condition.
Cast iron with wood.
Serial number is 1382011 ca. 1920.
