Art deco design radio TELEFUNKEN 340W, rare tube radio also known as the ‘Katzenkopf’ Germany, 1931
This Katzenkopf; the most beautiful and luxurious Telefunken tube radio of its time! People got more adept in designing with bakelite. This Art deco radio is a beautiful example. The radio has been partly tested; the low frequency part is with a variable transformer, tested on power surges to prevent damage to the capacitors after a long time being idle. The high frequency has not been tested; there should be a separate high impedance speaker and antenna connected to it.
All tubes glow and get warm, scale lighting lights up behind the bakelite station scale lid.
This is removable to be able to shift preset station clamps.
With the small middle knob, you turn the copper-coloured station scale.
The 3-way switch is on the right side: concerns the desired wavelength or gramophone.
Is in good condition, a crack of 2 cm is on the back on the right, out of sight (last photo).
The transformer has been replaced at one time during the 87 years for a large Amroh one, which has been fixed in the expansion of the back wall.
