Wonderful droplet-shaped fruit bowl by the 'Royal van Kempen & Begeer' firm and designed by the internationally renowned designer Gijs Bakker. Condition: in perfect condition Gijs Bakker (Amersfoort, 1942) was trained as a jewellery and industrial designer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Konstfackskolan in Stockholm, Sweden. He designs jewellery, home accessories and household appliances, furniture, interiors, public spaces and exhibitions. In 1993 he founded Droog Design, a Dutch collective of designers, products and information, together with design critic and historian Renny Ramakers. Together with Ramakers, Bakker was the selector and the art director of all products within Droog Design until 2009. Bakker taught at various schools, including the ArtEZ Art Academy in Arnhem, the Delft University of Technology and the Design Academy Eindhoven, where he worked from 1987 until 2012, and from 2000 onwards as head of the Masters Programme.
