Louis Kalff for Philips Holland - UFO lamp Louis Kalff (1897–1976) designed this modern lamp and it was produced by Philips Holland. Due to its shape, this lamp is often called the UFO lamp. The lampshade and the base are made of aluminium, varnished with a matte black paint. The inside of the lampshade has a light colour to increase the reflection of the light. The neck is flexible, which means the lampshade can be bent in all directions. The lampshade features the Philips emblem, like it can be found on several well-known lamps by Louis Kalff. Besides being a designer, Louis Kalff was also a successful architect. The design of this lamp resembles the shape of the Philips exhibition centre "Evoluon". The architectonic masterpiece by Louis Kalff which was realised in 1966 in Eindhoven. Louis Kalff has designed many iconic lamps for Philips.
