Very large and beautiful hand carved Maroon wood carving - Suriname - Made from local wood.
An intriguing pattern can be seen with beautiful ornaments and a sunflower in the middle.
The Maroons of Suriname are descendants of Africans who have been forcibly sent to Suriname by slave dealers. Maroons are also called “Forest land Creoles”.
Originates from the second half of the 20th century-in very good condition.
