At the DRG, they were numbered as the series 18.4-5. They saw service until the 1950s. Thirty of the locomotives were kept in service a while longer; these were fitted with a new boiler and a new driver’s cab (DB series 18.6). In the early sixties, these were also taken out of service. According to the numbering scheme of the Bavarian Railways, these locomotives were referred to as Series S 3/6. In doing so, the S stands for Schnellzug, the 3 for the number of axles powered, and the 6 for the total number of axles of the locomotive. Some of these locomotives have been preserved.
