bust of Louise Brongniart to Houdon - resin with alabaster

Very nice and romantic sculpture with a beautiful patina after the famous sculpture by Houdon. Houdon (1741-1820) is regarded as the most famous “people sculptor” of the 18th century and was a neo-classical sculptor. This movement particularly focused on (construction) art of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Houdon stayed in Rome from 1764 to 1781 and concentrated on classical sculptures, of which he studied their anatomy. Louise Brongniart was the daughter of famous French architect Alexander Brongniart, architect of Bourse de Paris (old stock exchange). This beautiful sculpture can be found in the Louvre in Paris.
