Lehmann , LGB G - 2040 - Electric locomotive - Swiss Crocodile Ge 6/6 "Rhetian crocodile" - RhB

LGB, Lehmann G - 2040 - Electric locomotive - Swiss ‘Crocodile’ Series Ge 6/6 "Rhätische Crocodile" of the RhB. Swiss example of the Rhätische Bahn - RhB. This most famous locomotive is the articulated "Crocodile" Series Ge 6/6 (G = narrow gauge, e = electric, 6/6 = six axles, all are powered). These locomotives with 1,067 HP, built in the 1920s, pulled freight and passenger trains over the steep hills of the Swiss Alps. Of the original 15, there are still some in service with special trains such as the RhB's Alpine Classic. Just as the prototype was, the LGB model is equipped with two engines. It can draw current from either a catenary overhead contact line or from the tracks. Prototype. When some RhB-routes switched from steam to electric traction in the 1920s, they needed powerful new electric locomotives. Between 1921 and 1929 fourteen of the famous Ge 6/6 were built. The striking front and rear sections each have one electric motor. The power is transferred from the drive shafts to the wheels via pushrods. With a continuous power output of 1076 HP and a top speed of 55 km/h the hinged RhB Crocodiles set a new standard for narrow gauge electric locomotives that remained unsurpassed for many years. Several of these classic locomotives remain in service and can be enjoyed when used on special trains. Tested and in good working order. The photos are an integral part of the description of this lot. Locomotives have a one-month warranty after purchase. If found to be defective within 1 month, it can be returned free of charge within the Netherlands. All packages will be shipped via registered and insured mail.
