Very large and beautiful, burgundy red and navy blue lacquered sailing ship "The Rainbow", one-master and with 3 sails. Is nicely made and of good quality (see photos). It is a wooden model ship without any plastic parts and it has a separate base on which the ship rests. In an authentic and original condition. Does have signs of wear. The loose stand was not originally a part of the set, but it does support the ship well. On May 15 1934, the William Starling Burgess Design J Class Rainbow was launched in Rhode Island, USA. She was built to defend the America's Cup against "Endeavour" in 1934. She defeated the Challenger Endeavour. Good condition. Photos are an addition to the description.
