Mechanical knife with a steel blade and boxwood handle, graduation on the rod from 1 to 10 cm and tool bearing the number 17.
Formerly belonging to a saddler, the tool was used to cut leather straps.
The Blanchard factory was founded in 1823, Louis René BLANCHARD worked as a cutler.
From a small-scale cutlery factory in the second half of the 19th century, the factory diversified widely and enlarged the targeted trades, while remaining close to the leather work:
Blanchard tools collected 7 gold and silver medals in the various exhibitions in European capitals.
