Gustav Winselmann & Herman Köhler started in 1877 with the production of sewing machines in Altenberg, Germany. Winselmann founded his own company in 1892 and by 1913 he had produced a million sewing machines of various types. In 1902, the company became a limited liability company (GmbH) and used the Titan brand name that appears on many of its machines. The company closed at the end of the Second World War. This is an example of the company's High Arm Family machine that was probably produced in 1925. Gustav Winselmann Nahmaschine Fabrik Altenburg is on the shield.
